Ingredients:
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 cup natural almond butter
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup dried cranberries
- 1/4 cup pumpkin seeds
- 1/4 cup hemp seeds
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions:
- In a food processor, pulse the rolled oats until they form a fine powder. Alternatively, you can use a blender, such as a Vitamix, to make these energy balls.
- Add the almond butter, honey, dried cranberries, pumpkin seeds, hemp seeds, and vanilla extract and pulse until well combined. (The Vitamix also has a pulsing function).
- Roll the mixture into balls, about 1-2 tablespoons per ball.
- Place the balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to firm up.
- Store the energy balls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
These energy balls are perfect for calisthenics athletes as they provide a balance of carbohydrates, protein and healthy fats that are necessary for muscle recovery and endurance. Rolled oats provide slow-release carbohydrates which help to sustain energy levels. Almond butter is a good source of healthy fats, which helps to keep the body satiated and energized. Pumpkin seeds and hemp seeds are rich in minerals and protein which are essential for muscle recovery and repair. Dried cranberries add a natural sweetness and a good source of antioxidants.
